Path of Life Counseling is a Christian-oriented therapy practice. The name, and inspiration for Path of Life Counseling, comes from Psalm 16:11. One translation of this passage states:
Now you’ve got my feet on the life path, all radiant from the shining of your face. Ever since you took my hand, I’m on the right way. Psalm 16:11 MSG
At Path of Life Counseling, we believe, because Scripture says, that we are designed by God to love God and to love other people. We are under no illusion that this is an easy task. Rather, in a broken and fallen world, loving God, loving others, and even valuing ourselves can be painfully difficult. It is expected to be challenging and even exhausting to search through personal experiences, especially the painful ones. As clinicians, we hope to create a secure and nonjudgmental space for you to explore your story, believing that as you heal, you will feel ever more equipped to implement your unique purpose.
While we see clients from a variety of faith backgrounds, there is no expectation that clients hold our faith orientation. One of the things that sets us apart at Path of Life Counseling is our openness to focusing on how our attachment to God influences the choices we make in our everyday lives. This attachment is at the heart of every decision we make and is woven into how we perceive ourselves and the world. Path of Life longs for our clients to experience God in a restorative way, and for those clients who are open to this exploration, we are equipped to integrate spirituality and scientifically proven trauma-informed modalities to support your journey.
You make known to me the path of life, you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. Psalm 16:11 NIV
* At Path of Life, we have experience walking alongside those who have endured hurt at the hands of the church or through those who claim to speak on behalf of God. Our clinicians are open to holding space to process and work through clients’ negative experiences with the church at large and with faith experiences.
